THE LA FILM FESTIVAL IS HERE!!

The LA Film Festival is upon us, beginning TOMORROW, Thursday, June 16th. It's a world-class film festival, so it's an amazing place to not only watch great cinema, but to make to meet in mingle with a world-class cinema community.

I was an associate programmer for the fest this year and can attest to the extremely high quality of programming. A lot of very smart, insightful, passionate film lovers on the programming team!! But it's not just films. There is so much great stuff going on downtown at the festival, if you're anywhere near LA, you'd be foolish not to find a way to be there!!

Filmmakers Alliance will be hosting a film at the festival, so we definitely hope to see you en masse at that film's two screenings. Here's the details on the film:

Entrance

USA | DIR Dallas Hallam, Patrick Horvath

CAST: Suziey Block, Bennett Jones, Florence Hartigan, Josh Grote, Liesel Kopp, Morgan Phalen

When Suziey, a beautiful Silverlake hipster, mysteriously loses her beloved dog, a creeping anxiety begins to set in and she decides she's had enough of L.A.. But on the night of her going-away party, Suziey finds out that leaving might not be so easy.A remarkably deft blending of genres, this character-study-meets-horror-flick is a true East Side collaboration. Suziey the Silverlake barista really is Suziey the Silverlake barista (and a gifted actress) and the rambling hillside home she inhabits onscreen was director Dallas Hallam's rental during shooting. But what's most remarkable about Hallam and Patrick Horvath;s directorial debut is the unshakable sense of dread it evokes. Be warned: you may not sleep so well once you've experienced Entrance.

Fri., June 24, 10:00 p.m., Regal 11

Sat., June 25, 4:00 p.m., Downtown Independent

  2. What happened to the behind the scenes stuff you were posting on the selection process? There was only one of those, then it dried up. I was looking forward to that.
